1. 2026 Grow-NY Food and Ag Summit (cornell.edu) — A major food and agriculture startup summit is coming to the DoubleTree in Rochester, offering locals a chance to see 20 global startups pitch for up to $1 million in prizes. Residents can attend in person for a fee or join virtually for free, with plenty of networking and regional agrifood innovation on display.
2. Trillium Health opens new clinic in Rochester (13wham.com) — A new Trillium Health clinic has opened on Jefferson Avenue, expanding primary care, behavioral health, and support services for Rochester residents alongside its Monroe Avenue campus. Leaders say the site will help serve about 3,000 additional patients each year, continuing the organization's focus on reducing health disparities and removing barriers to care across the city.
3. Meet Benson: RPD's 9-week-old puppy helping officers cope with stress (rochesterfirst.com) — Rochester police officers are getting a new kind of support from Benson, a 9‑week‑old boxer puppy joining the department's wellness efforts. He's already visiting roll calls to give officers a brief emotional break, and RPD plans to use wellness dogs alongside existing resources to help staff cope with traumatic calls and the daily buildup of job-related stress.
4. Chamber music with soul: the fall 2026 Gateways Music Festival (rochesterbeacon.com) — Rochester will host the fall 2026 Gateways Music Festival October 9–12 at the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music, bringing leading Black classical musicians to town. Local audiences can hear everything from Bach to jazz-infused "ChamberSoul," attend a free digital broadcast, and see young musicians work closely with visiting artists in an inclusive, celebratory setting.
5. Libyan man convicted of threatening two Rochester federal judges from 2024 (whec.com) — A Libyan man has been convicted in Rochester for threatening to murder two federal judges connected to a civil case he filed after alleging workplace discrimination at Rochester Institute of Technology. Authorities say he became agitated during a 2024 call to the federal clerk's office and issued violent threats; he now faces up to 10 years in prison, with sentencing set for February 1, 2027.
