14-Year-Old Boy On Bike Struck By Car On Sunrise Highway

BREAKING: The boy suffered serious injuries Sunday night, police say.

BALDWIN, NY – A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle across Sunrise Highway Sunday night, Nassau Police said.

It happened at 8:30 p.m. in Baldwin. According to police, the teen was crossing Sunrise Highway southbound at Chestnut Street when his bicycle was struck by a 2004 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling west on Sunrise.

A Nassau County Police ambulance transported the teen, who sustained serious head injuries, to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The 25-year-old male driver of the Hyundai was not injured. Police did not identify either person.
