Vehicle Flees Police; Leads To 2-Car Crash In Baldwin

One person was charged in connection to taking off during the traffic stop, police said.

BALDWIN, NY — A two-car crash occurred Wednesday night in Baldwin. Police said it started after a traffic stop in Hempstead.

A 2015 grey Toyota refused to hit the brakes and fled the scene, authorities said.

While officers lost sight of the vehicle, police were notified of a two-car crash in Baldwin, involving the Toyota that drove off.

Occupants of that vehicle fled on foot. One person was placed into custody. A second person was not apprehended, authorities said.

The collision led to one minor injury.

Tyshawn Cullum, 26, of Uniondale, is charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration. He was released on an appearance ticket with a return date of April 3.
