2 Teens Tried To Rob Man, Force Way Into Home: Police

Police say the two were chasing the man they tried to rob, who took refuge in a nearby home.

BALDWIN, NY — Two teens were arrested on Thursday after Nassau police say they tried to rob a man and force their way into a woman's home.

According to police, a 49-year-old man was walking on Teehan Lane in Baldwin at 3:30 p.m. when he was approached by two teens who tried to steal his wallet. The man ran to a nearby home on Teehan Lane and asked the 60-year-old woman who lived there to let him in.

The woman let him in, and police say the two teens tried to force their way into the home. The woman was able to close the door, and police say the two teens fled.

Officers responded to the scene and arrested Eros Almonte, 18, of Grand Avenue, Baldwin, and a 15-year-old boy.

Almonte is charged with second-degree attempted robbery, second-degree attempted burglary and third-degree menacing. He is scheduled to be arraigned on June 26.
