Police say the man demanded money with his hand in his pocket, simulating that he could have a weapon.

HEMPSTEAD, NY. — A 38-year-old man is facing a robbery charge this week after he put his hand in his pocket to mimic the presence of a gun and took $2,000 cash from a Hempstead Wells Fargo, police said.

Nassau County Police said 38-year-old Lashawn Mills entered the bank Saturday morning at 11:53 a.m. and approached a 78-year-old woman working behind the counter. Upon reaching her, police said Mills demanded money from her while holding his hand in his pocket to simulate that he might have a weapon. After being given about $2,000, Mills fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

Mills was located and arrested after investigation, and no injuries were reported, police said. He faces a charge of second-degree robbery, police said.
