5 People Shocked by Lightning Strike in Nassau County
The fire department says all five are OK after incident Thursday evening.

Five people were jolted by a lighting strike in Nassau County Thursday afternoon, authorities say.
It happened in Long Beach around 5 p.m. as a strong thunderstorm lashed the region.

At approximately 5pm today the City of Long Beach Fire Department was alerted for a lightning strike with multiple patients on National Blvd and the Ocean Beach Park. Engine 2343 and Ambulance 2319 were first on scene and began evaluating the patients. Engine 3 immedIately requested more ambulances to the scene. South Nassau Ambulance 2325 and Long Beach Fire Department Ambulance 2321 arrived on scene. In total, 5 patients were evaluated for lightning strike injuries and were transported via ambulance or personal cars to South Nassau Communities Hospital in stable conditions.
Immediately following the lightning strike, the City of Long Beach Fire Department was alerted for a multitude of other emergencies including a car fire, a motor vehicle accident, an automatic fire alarm, a stove fire, a gas leak and a water rescue.
