Police Identify Man Killed In Hempstead Crash

The crash took place at 8:02 a.m. Wednesday, police say.

HEMPSTEAD, NY. — Police said Thursday afternoon that they had identified the 64-year-old man who died Wednesday morning after he was struck by a Toyota Tundra while crossing the street in Hempstead.

Nassau County police said Thursday that the man had been identified as Michael DeMedina a 64-year-old Hempstead resident.

According to police, DeMedina was crossing Peninsula Boulevard on the northbound side of the street when the southbound Tundra making a left turn onto South Franklin Street struck him. DeMedina was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said, while the 49-year-old man driving the Tundra stayed at the scene. No other injuries were reported and an investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
