WESTBURY, NY — The "Yes We Can" Community Center is getting a facelift. It will unveil a new mural this weekend.
Eleven Westbury High School students helped paint the mural.
The Town of North Hempstead, St. Cyr Art Studio and Westbury Arts and Community Connections of Long Island also made the 7-foot high by 20-foot long piece of art happen.
The mural portrays the vibrant beauty, rich culture and robust spirit of the Westbury community. Additionally, it honors the legacy of civil rights icon Dr. Hazel Dukes, whose image is among the mural's highlights.
The project was funded by the MTA’s 3TC Community Benefits Agreement (3rd Track Project).
The mural gets officially displayed on Saturday morning.
