Authorities said the fire was brought under control within two hours, with the bodies of two people being discovered during fire department operations. Outside the two people who were found in the home, officials said there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

In the aftermath of the fire, the fire marshal’s office said NCFM investigators and NCPD arson/bomb detectives were investigating its cause. The Hempstead Village building department was also called to the scene to assess what the fire marshal’s office called “serious damage…with collapse” to the house.”

Fire officials did not identify the two people whose bodies were found in the home Sunday.
