76-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Struck By SUV, Police Say

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A 76-year-old pedestrian died Friday after being struck by an SUV at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Henry Street in Hempstead, police said.

Nassau County police announced Saturday morning that the man had been struck by a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder late Friday morning and been taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead after suffering “severe trauma.”

Police did not identify the man Saturday, nor did they announce arrests or charges stemming from the accident; police did say that the 47-year-old woman driving the Pathfinder stayed at the scene and that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
