This Week In Rockville Centre: Stolen Airpods, Unauthorized U-Haul Driving, Police Say

The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly report Monday.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly report Monday, detailing police activity for the week ending May 25. The items listed are as follows:

On May 16, a Rockville Centre man said someone had stolen his AirPods after he left them on a Panera table on Merrick Road, police said.

On May 18, a Rockville Centre DPW employee said someone had damaged new edging that had recently been installed at Hempstead Lake State Park, police said.

On May 19, a TD Bank employee said someone had tampered with the ATM at the bank’s Merrick Road location, police said.

On May 21, 42-year-old Westbury resident Randy White was arrested on an open charge of third-degree assault after police stopped him for disorderly conduct at a Merrick Road 7-11, police said.

On May 21, a Maple Avenue U-Haul manager said that one of their trucks had not been returned for several weeks after the due date. Two days later, on May 23, police said 60-year-old Freeport resident Alonso Luis was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after police found him driving the U-Haul in Uniondale.

On May 21, a Fenway resident said a check she mailed had been altered and cashed, police said.

On May 21, an 86-year-old woman was found dead in her Nottingham Road home, police said. Police listed the cause of death as natural in their report.

On May 22, a Baldwin woman said she had been involved in a hit and run at the intersection of Long Beach Road and Lakeview Avenue, with the other vehicle fleeing the scene, police said.

On May 23, a Hempstead woman said her wallet had been stolen while she was at a party on Merrick Road, police said. The wallet, police said, had credit cards in it.

On May 24, a Banks Avenue man said a package had been stolen after delivery from the mailroom of his apartment building, police said.
