HEMPSTEAD, NY — 75 firefighters were dispatched to a Hempstead Village home Sunday night after a fire broke out just before 11:30 p.m., officials said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said the fire broke out at 11:22 p.m., with the Hempstead Fire Department arriving to the two-story dwelling on Rhodes Avenue and receiving mutual aid from the Freeport, Garden City, Rockville Centre, Roosevelt and South Hempstead departments.
The 75-person firefighting coalition took about 25 minutes to get the fire under control; officials said there were no injuries from the fire but said that two adults and two children who lived in the home were displaced. The Red Cross, officials said, has been contacted to assist the displaced residents.
In the aftermath of the fire, officials said the Fire Marshal’s office and the NCPD arson/bomb squad are investigating its cause.
