Baldwin Woman Accused Of Deed Theft And Renting Out Properties She Didn't Own: PD

A Baldwin woman was arrested this week after she was found to have committed deed theft and rented out homes she didn't own, police say.

BALDWIN, NY — A Baldwin woman is facing multiple grand larceny charges this week after she was accused of deed theft and renting out properties she didn't own, police said.

Nassau County police said 39-year-old Aurelia Soogea was arrested after she forged documents to transfer a West Hempstead rental property out of a 75-year-old man's name and into her own. Police said Soogea also had pills — believed to be oxycodone — on her person when she as arrested.

An investigation into Soogea's activity revealed that she had also been renting out multiple properties that she didn't own to families from July 8, 2026 to July 28, 2026, police said.

Soogea is now facing two counts of second-degree grand larceny, two counts of third-degree grand larceny, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, one count of offering a false instrument for filing, one count of scheme to defraud and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
