2 Children, 2 Adults Forced From Home After Rockville Centre House Fire Friday Morning: Fire Officials

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Two adults and two children were displaced after a Rockville Centre house fire on Friday morning, fire marshals said.

At 8:42 a.m. on Aug. 14, the Rockville Centre Fire Department responded to a three-story home on Smith Street, near Lincoln Ave., the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

Due to the extent of the fire on the second floor, it likely caused heavy smoke on the third floor and water damage on the floors below, fire marshals said.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 1 hour with 75 firefighters battling the blaze, according to fire officials. There were no injuries reported, and housing relocation services were not required, fire marshals said.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by Hempstead, Lakeview, Oceanside, Lynbrook, Malverne, and East Rockaway fire departments, all under the command of Chief Rugolo of the Rockville Centre FD, fire marshals said. A Deputy County Fire Coordinator from the Fire Marshal's Office also responded to the scene, fire marshals said.

Investigators from the NCFM and detectives from the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad were on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire, according to fire officials.

The Village of Rockville Centre Building Department was notified to assess damage to the structure, fire marshals said.
