OCEANSIDE, NY — An Oceanside ice cream store is celebrating its grand opening with a bang this weekend, offering free scoops to the first 500 customers in the door Saturday.
The Oceanside Häagen Dazs location, located at 3567 Long Beach Rd in Oceanside, is offering 500 free mini scoops, starting at 11 a.m. Saturday and continuing until either 4 p.m. or whenever the store's ice cream supplies are depleted. Toppings will cost extra, store staff said.
"It's definitely exciting. We've been open since July 17, so [it took] a lot of hard work to get here, but we're excited," Store owner Lav Patel told Patch. "The community has shown us a lot of love, so we're excited to get to this grand opening."
The store is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering scoops out of the Sands Shopping Center.
For customers unsure of which flavor of mini scoop would best meet their ice cream needs, Patel had a recommendation ready.
"White chocolate raspberry," Patel said.
