Molloy University Named Top 100 College In the Country: TIME

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — TIME Magazine released its list of the top 100 colleges and universities in the United States Thursday, and tucked in among the Ivies and the Ivy League-adjacent private and public institutions was a Long Island institution: Molloy University.

The Rockville Centre school was one of just 14 New York colleges to make the top 100, coming in at No. 85 overall in the TIME ranking that factors in student outcomes, learning environments and attractiveness to students.

According to TIME, the methodology used to compile its rankings, "emphasizes indicators that measure institutional performance net of student intake, isolating the value an institution itself contributes from the characteristics of the students it enrolls. These pillars are operationalized through a set of quantitative indicators derived from federal datasets, which are normalized and aggregated according to a transparent weighting scheme. The three pillars are weighted as follows in the overall scoring model: student outcomes – 75%, learning environment – 15%, and attractiveness – 10%."

In that matrix, Molloy scored a 79.93 out of a possible 100, with an 85.03 in student outcomes, an 85.24 in learning environment and a 33.67 in attractiveness to students. That student outcomes score outpaced schools including Brown, University of Chicago and Duke University, while Molloy's learning environment score ranked higher than places like Michigan, Princeton and Notre Dame.

Also making the top 100 from New York were Columbia University, Cornell University, CUNY Lehman College, CUNY Baruch College, FIT, Binghamton University, Colgate University, CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, SUNY Maritime, NYU, Hamilton College, Barnard College and Yeshiva University.
