Opera Star Returns To Rockville Centre As High Holy Days Soloist (patch.com) — A Rockville Centre native and professional baritone is returning to Central Synagogue–Beth Emeth this month as the cantorial soloist for High Holy Day services, bringing his operatic experience back to the congregation that shaped him. Residents who grew up with him at CSBE may see a familiar face on the bimah as he works with Rabbi Aviva Bass to lead emotionally resonant worship.

Rockville Centre remembers beloved resident Karen Morgan (liherald.com) — Rockville Centre is mourning longtime resident Karen Morgan, a retired American Airlines flight attendant who settled in the village in 1980 and raised three sons here. Rockville Centre's Thomas Von Essen remembers 9/11 (liherald.com) — Rockville Centre resident and former NYC fire commissioner Thomas Von Essen is sharing vivid memories of 9/11 as the 25th anniversary approaches, while reflecting on how his family's long ties to the village supported him afterward. With children and grandchildren still in Rockville Centre, he appreciates the community's recognition as he continues honoring the 343 FDNY members who died that day.
   

4. Thousands gather at Point Lookout to mark 25th anniversary of 9/11 (longislandpress.com) — Rockville Centre's Fire Department and St. Agnes Cathedral's rector played visible roles in a large 25th‑anniversary 9/11 sunrise memorial at Point Lookout, joining more than 1,000 people honoring victims and first responders. Local firefighters presented the colors and Rev. Michael Duffy offered the invocation as families, officials, and younger volunteers cast carnations into the Atlantic and pledged to keep the stories alive.
