Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) has announced the date and start time of his 2nd Annual Run for Heroes 5K race to raise money for local VFWs and American Legion Posts. The race will be held Sunday, May 7, with a start time of 9 a.m.
“All proceeds from this race go to benefit our local veterans,” said Assemblyman Curran. “These brave men and women have put their country first. They have given up so much in the service of others. In many cases they have left their families to serve us overseas or moved their families around the country wherever they are stationed. When these veterans return home they deserve the best, they deserve to have benefits and proper care. We must do more to honor those who have served in our armed forces. The Run for Heroes 5K is to honor our veterans, but also to raise money for our local VFWs and American Legion Posts that provide services for our heroes. I ask all of our residents to consider participating in our race and showing their support for our military servicemen and women.”
The race will begin and end at Hewlett Point Beach, 130 Hewlett Point Avenue in Bay Park. The registration fee is $25 for those who register to run/walk prior to race day, $35 for those who register on the day of the race and $15 for participants who are 14 years old and under. Participants may register at RunForHeroes5k.itsyourrace.com.
