Attorney Michael Pernick Hopes To Succeed Kaminsky In State Senate

The Rockville Centre resident says he'll focus on affordability and ethics reform if he wins in November.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Michael Pernick, an election attorney, is running unopposed as the Democrat looking to succeed Todd Kaminsky in the state Senate.

"I've been knocking doors almost every single day, meeting my neighbors," Pernick said on Monday's "Patch AM."

The Rockville Centre homeowner said affordability for residents is the main issue he'd bring to Albany in winning the 9th District seat.

"People are feeling squeezed with property taxes," he said. "It's personal for me. When my wife and I bought our house and saw our first property tax bill, our jaws dropped."

Pernick also is concerned about the influx of corruption in politics.

"I want to be a fighter on good government. I want to be a fighter on cleaning up Albany and a fighter on ethics," Pernick said. "I think we need more robust ethics enforcement."
