Baldwin Fire Causes Evacuation Of Families: Police
Multiple fire departments assisted in extinguishing the overnight Thursday blaze.
BALDWIN, NY — A fire was reported in the early morning hours on Thursday in Baldwin. Nassau police say a Grand Avenue commercial building was in flames just before 1 a.m.
The building has apartments on the second floor.
Officers noticed the fire on the ground level and were able to remove all residents safely from the upper level.

Police say no one was hurt.
The Baldwin Fire Department was assisted by the Oceanside, Rockville Centre and Long Beach fire departments.

Approximately 40 firefighters battled the blaze.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause, as the building suffered moderate structural damage.
The Red Cross was on the scene to aid in finding shelter for displaced families.
