Baldwin High Wins Third-Straight AP Honor
The AP Program School Honor Roll is awarded to schools that prepare students for college and broaden access to advanced placement classes.
BALDWIN, NY. — Baldwin High School was named to the Advanced Placement Program School Honor Roll this week, earning a silver distinction from College Board, the organization that administers advanced placement courses in schools around the country. The Honor Roll award, the district's third in as many years, recognizes schools that not only enhance students’ access to AP classes, but also prepare their students for the future while they’re in high school.
The honor roll distinction is handed out to charter, private and public schools around the country, of all sizes, district representatives said Tuesday. To the award, district representatives said, a school must have at least 40 percent of its graduating class take an AP exam during high school, with at least 25 percent of the class scoring at or above a three on the exam. The final piece of criteria, district officials said, is having two percent of the graduating class take five or more AP exams in high school, with at least one of those exams taken freshman or sophomore year.
In 2025, district representatives said, Baldwin students took 1,224 AP Exams, with 259 students winning AP awards and 39 earning AP Capstone diplomas. According to district representatives, the AP program is a tool for students to show collegiate admissions officers that they’ve sought out challenging curriculum, in addition to giving students the opportunity to earn college credits for their high school coursework, often at a lower price point than they would see at colleges and universities.

For administrators in the Baldwin school district, the award is a sign that a lot of hard work had paid off.
“Being named to the College Board’s AP Silver Honor Roll reflects Baldwin’s deep commitment to educational excellence and to providing students with meaningful opportunities to engage in rigorous, college-level learning,” Baldwin Superintendent Anthony Mignella said. “Through our 29 Advanced Placement courses, Baldwin students are challenged to think critically, communicate effectively, collaborate with others, apply creativity, demonstrate strong character, and engage as responsible citizens. These are essential skills that prepare them not only for college, but for success beyond the classroom. Achieving this designation for the third time is a direct result of the dedication and collaboration of our administrators, teachers, students, and families. This recognition is a tremendous source of pride for our schools and for the entire Baldwin community.”
For his part, Baldwin High School principal Dr. Neil Testa said he was proud of the work Baldwin high students had put in to earn the award for their school.
“I am incredibly honored and proud for our school to once again earn the AP Honor Roll Silver Designation, clear proof that our school continues to grow stronger and better each year thanks to the talent, dedication, and excellence of our amazing students and the educators who support them,” Testa said.
