Bank Robbery In Rockville Centre 'Unsettling' For Customer

A man is sought for robbing with a note threatening to have a weapon on Friday afternoon, police say.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — A man is on the loose for a bank robbery Friday in Rockville Centre.

It happened at the Webster Bank on Merrick Road, just before 1:30 p.m., when a man passed a note to a note to a teller, threatening to use a weapon, police said.

One of the customers in the bank at the time, who asked to be kept unnamed, "didn’t realize anything happened until one of the employees locked the door and was watching outside." The customer told Patch, "It was a little unsettling because we didn’t know if there was a situation outside or something happening in the bank with us."

No one was injured. The robber fled the scene.
