Bethany House Receives $20,000 Newsday Grant
Grant goes to homeless women and children on Long Island
In December, at the 2014 Newsday Charities Grant Reception, Bethany House was awarded with a $20,000 grant through Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation fund. The Bethany House grant was one of 23 grants, totaling $970,000, made in 2014 through Newsday Charities.
Bethany House is a warm, loving shelter for women and children who are homeless. Established in 1978, Bethany House has grown to include five residences for homeless families, particularly families with special needs. Bethany House has been singled out as a model program because Bethany has always provided safe, supportive emergency and transitional housing combined with extensive services and resources. It is in such an atmosphere that homeless women and children are able to move through the crisis to stability, with the help of dedicated professionals and surrounded by a caring community. In this past year alone, Bethany House has provided more than 25,000 nights of hospitality to more than 700 families, including 955 children.
The grant will go directly to helping those in need at Bethany House.
