South Shore Symphony Spooktacular Concert

Long Island’s renowned South Shore Symphony invites ghosts and goblins of all ages to its 2nd Annual "Halloween Spooktacular" on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 7:30 in the Madison Theater (on campus of Molloy University) in Rockville Centre, NY.

Mr. Glaser will lead the orchestra musicians – all decked out in costumes – in an evening of  orchestral favorites, including some of the most popular and accessible works in the repertoire.  The audience is strongly encouraged to join in the fun by wearing costumes (but are also welcome to “come as you are”).

Following is the planned program:

Lalo Schifrin (arr. Custer): Mission Impossible Theme

Anton Bruckner: Symphony No. 9 in D minor: Scherzo (2nd mvt)

Antonin Dvořák: The Water Goblin, Op. 107

Gioacchino Rossini: Overture from La Cenerentola (Cinderella)

Josef Suk: Scherzo Fantastique, Op. 25

Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard (arr. Lopez): The Dark Knight Concert Suite

Many audience members will instantly recognize some of the music from movies and TV, such as the riveting theme from Mission Impossible composed by Lalo Schifrin, and the Batman-inspired music from The Dark Knight by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard.  The famous second movement of Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor is a powerful Scherzo featuring ghost-like themes that feel electric and terrifying.  The program also features Gioacchino Rossini’s Overture from La Cenerentola, an opera based on the classic Cinderella fairytale, and Antonin Dvořák’s “The Water Goblin,” a gruesome and dramatic symphonic poem.  Closing the program will be Josef Suk’s “Scherzo fantastique,” a spooky orchestral piece filled with eerie sounds and mischievous themes.

Ticket prices are as follows: Adults: $35; Seniors: $30; Students: $10. Tickets are available by visiting the Madison Theatre website, www.madisontheatreny.org, or calling or visiting the Madison Theatre Box Office at 516-323-4444. 1000 Hempstead Avenue,  Rockville Centre, NY.
