INWOOD, NY — A man was taken into custody in Inwood on Wednesday night for carrying a firearm.

A 39-year-old man was walking on Gates Avenue, when officers on patrol saw him holding a firearm case, detectives said.

It was revealed that Gilford had a 9 mm handgun in the case, police said.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

The man was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
