Child Brought Gun To Nassau Elementary School: Reports

A child allegedly brought a gun to an elementary school in Baldwin on Monday, creating a scare in the community.

According to ABC7, a student brought the loaded handgun into Meadow Elementary School.

"The safety of our students and staff is always a top priority in the Baldwin School District," the district said in an email to parents, News 12 reported. "Our staff was made aware of the occurrence, the police were notified and the situation was rectified immediately. Due to confidentiality laws, we cannot disclose any further details."

No one was injured.

Nassau County police confirmed that there is an active investigation, but did not provide any further details.
