Connecting The Dots of Creativity: A Multi-Cultural & Contemporary Visual Art Initiative

Textile Designer and Long Island Teaching Artist, Madona Cole-Lacy Connects the Dots of Creativity - One Long Island Community at a Time.

Connecting The Dots of Creativity: A Multi-Cultural & Contemporary Initiative

(North Bellmore, New York, October 2016). The creations of Textile Artist, Designer of Wearable Art and Long Island Teaching Artist, Madona Cole-Lacy, will be on display at the North Bellmore Public Library until October 31, 2016. The exhibition includes a sampling of her handcrafted African-Inspired and contemporary wearable art, surface design pieces, wall art and original prints. Mrs. Cole-Lacy's art exhibit which most might agree is not one that is in line with others that have been seen at this library, or even at the Farmingdale Public Library art gallery where her work was on display during the month of September, is a commentary on how the artist uses her creative ability to subscribe to the making of the world into "a smaller place" as well as, meet the needs of people in numerous ways.

Madona Cole-Lacy hopes that every connection she makes with her brand of art will either serve to break down barriers, subscribe to the weaving of the common thread that runs through the fabric of mankind, or inspire 21st Century youth to embrace creativity in all areas of their personal life, and in their academic and professional aspirations.

Mrs. Cole-Lacy connects her dots of creativity by providing social and emotional visual arts-based solutions and enrichment as a Textile Artist, Social Entrepreneur and registered Nassau and Eastern Suffolk BOCES Teaching Artist & Cultural Partner(Arts-in-Education Consutant). Through her My Time Has Come Program, she provides art-related social and cultural enrichment workshops and activities to schools, libraries and faith and community based organizations for adults and youth. She further creatively serves Long Island's youth through Your Time For Creative Empowerment, Inc., a 501(C)(3) non-profit she founded in 2012. Through this initiative, students from the 8th to 12th grade are given an opportunity to receive community leadership grants and college scholarships when they participate in the Creative Empowerment Arts Contest. Last, but by no means least, Madona Cole-Lacy creates functional art as the Owner and Creative Director of Madona Cole Originals (MCO) which specializes in contemporary and multi-cultural inspired textile art on fine fabric.

"My artistic journey takes the form of a holistic service to others. I connect the dots of creativity by providing handcrafted contemporary and African-inspired visual arts-based solutions and enrichment for women and families that are creative, social, cultural and emotional in nature." -Madona Cole-Lacy-
