Correction Officer Threatened Man With Gun In Road Rage Fight: PD

Police say the two got into a fight over changing lanes, then pulled over to yell at each other.

A New York City Corrections Officer was arrested on Sunday after police say the threatened a driver with a gun during a road rage incident.

According to police, around 8:23 p.m. on Sept. 1, state troopers responded to a call for a road rage incident on the eastbound Southern State Parkway near exit 21 in Baldwin.

Police say that Rashad C. Hinton, 31, of Uniondale, and another driver got out of their cars and started arguing over a lane merging conflict they had. During the argument, police say that Hinton made statements and movements toward his waistband, showing the other driver he had a gun. Police say he also showed the driver a badge.

Hinton left the scene before police arrived, but was located and arrested soon after. He was charged with second-degree menacing.

Hinton is a New York City Corrections Officer and legally had the gun and the badge. He is due to appear in Nassau County First District Court on Sept. 30.
