Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st AD) recently hosted his 5th annual Spring Fling Senior Luncheon at the Sandel Senior Center in Rockville Centre. About 140 seniors attended the luncheon, which is held every year to celebrate the end of winter. Curran also wished Selma Stone (see photo 2.jpg attached) a happy 102nd birthday. Curran said after a brief meeting with Chris O’Leary (see photo 4.jpg attached), Director of Sandel, Curran took the opportunity to serve his constituents in a different capacity to ensure he continues to advocate for and keep their quality of life on Long Island. He highlighted some of the work he has been doing for seniors while in Albany this legislative session.

“This is the second budget year in a row that the Legislature has successfully prevented the governor from making drastic cuts to important senior programs,” said Curran. “Protecting our seniors, making sure they can afford to stay in their homes, providing them with essential services, and protecting their bottom line is paramount. This year, we rejected the governor’s plan to cap Medicare B reimbursements and prevented him from eliminating the Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). These are victories that have profound impacts on the cost of living for our senior citizens and I am proud to continue to work on their behalf.”
