Cyclones Baseball Sweeps Division in Three-Game Set

Sweep and eight-game win streak puts South Side atop their division.

Game 1 — The Cyclones pounded out 19 hits in a 13-4 win. The Cyclones got off to a fast start, scoring 11 runs in the second inning. Ben Hoefer had a monster game, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run. Ben Felderstein also provided some production of his own, going 3-for-3 with a bases-loaded single that broke the game open. Christian Colletti picked up the win, going 5.1 innings while giving up one run and striking out eight.

Game 2 — Mike Schuermann went the distance, as the Cyclones knocked off Division, 6-4. Schuermann pick up his second win of the season with a complete game. In those seven innings, he gave up four runs and struck out five. Vinny Tyers got the Cyclones offense going with a two-run single in the fourth. Ben Hoefer also continued swinging a hot bat, doubling in a run.

Game 3 — Ed Farington pitched a gem, as the Cyclones shut out Division, 2-0.
The story of this game was Farington, who pitched seven dazzling innings of shutout baseball. He also provided himself with some run support, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Ben Felderstein provided the other run, driving Eddie Tammaro with a sacrifice fly. The Cyclones now sit atop their division with a 10-4 record. After a dreadful 2-4 start, the Cyclones have won their last eight games. They look to carry their momentum to next week when they close out the season with a three-game set against Roslyn.
