Deadly Crashes On Peninsula Boulevard, Vehicles Slam Into Trees: Cops

Separate one-car collisions took place on Sunday in Rockville Centre, leading to two deaths and others in critical condition, police said.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — A passenger in his twenties was killed Sunday night when the car he was in struck a tree, police said.

A 24-year-old man was driving a 2006 Mini Cooper southbound on Peninsula Boulevard, approximately a mile south of the Southern State Parkway.

The driver left the roadway and crashed into a tree just after 10:30 p.m. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. It was the second fatal accident in the vicinity within 18 hours, authorities.

Just before 4:30 a.m., a 20-year-old female passenger was killed when the vehicle struck several trees alongside Peninsula Boulevard, police said.

The male driver and another female passenger are in critical condition.

Police are investigating both crashes.
