Decapitated Animals Found Among Salvation Army Donations On LI

Police say the manager of a Long Island Salvation Army was unloading a truck when he smelled something strange coming from a large bag.

Nassau police are investigating after decapitated animals were found in a bag among donated goods in Hempstead on Monday morning.

According to police, the manager of the Salvation Army on Front Street was unloading a truck around 9:40 a.m. The man unloaded a large bag emitting a strange odor. When he opened it, the man found a goat with a severed head and a decapitated chicken.

The dead animals were taken by the Town of Hempstead Animal Control Division. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
