WASHINGTON, DC — In the wake of a superseding indictment with 23 more charges against Rep. George Santos, several Republican congressmen are putting forth a new resolution to ouster the embattled lawmaker.

Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (R-Island Park) wrote Wednesday morning on X that he'll be "introducing an expulsion resolution to rid the People’s House of fraudster, George Santos."

D'Esposito said the measure is being co-sponsored by fellow New York freshmen: Rep. Nick LaLota, Rep. Mike Lawler, Rep. Marc Molinaro, Rep. Nick Langworthy and Rep. Brandon Williams.

Santos, who was indicted in May on 13 counts of fraud, money laundering and making false statement to Congress, was charged on Tuesday in connection to a campaign scheme where falsely reported loans included a $500,000 loan when Santos had less than $8,000 in his personal and business bank accounts, the indictment said.

He is also charged in connection to a fraudulent scheme to steal the personal identity and financial information of contributors to his campaign, the Department of Justice said.
