'Disgusting': Santos Compares Himself To Rosa Parks: Legislator
It's the latest example for local politicians to renew efforts to seek the embattled congressman's ouster.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Rep. George Santos is being condemned by local lawmakers.
In a podcast interview this week, Santos compared himself to civil rights icon Rosa Parks.
Addressing Mitt Romney's comments at the State of the Union in February, Santos said on "Mike Crispi Unafraid": "Well guess what? Rosa Parks didn't sit in the back and neither am I going to sit in the back."

Santos remains in office while the House Ethics Committee investigates him. He was indicted in May on a string of federal charges that include fraud and money laundering. Santos pleaded not guilty.
And yet, Nassau County Legislator (D-Plainview) Arnold Drucker said this is, arguably, the lowest point for the first-term congressman.

"George Santos is no Rosa Parks. He is a national laughingstock who brings shame upon Long Island, and he is a credibly accused felon who continues to defraud my constituents with a daily deluge of lies," Drucker said. "Comparing himself to Parks may be the sickest and most brazen of them all."
Legislator Carrié Solages (D-Lawrence) called Santos "absolutely disgusting" for attempting to "exploit the heroic legacy of Parks to shield himself from accountability for his lies and deceit."
Drucker said the "level of delusion" shows another example of why it's "long past time" for Santos to resign. Solages said it's time for Santos' Republican colleagues to "stop enabling him. If George Santos persists in his refusal to resign, he must be removed from office."
