Driver Hit 16-Year-Old On Bike And Drove Off: Police

Police say the driver stopped and yelled at the girl before driving off. Her mom took her to the hospital to get her injuries treated.

Nassau County police are searching for a driver who hit a 16-year-old girl on her bicycle with his car and then left the scene.

According to police, the girl was riding her bicycle north on Quebec Road in Oceanside on Monday at 10:05 p.m., when she was hit by a car traveling west on Warwick Road. After the driver hit her, police say he pulled over, got out of his car and yelled at the girl, and then drove away.

The girl was taken to a hospital by her mother, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to her head and limbs.

The driver was a man operating an older model white Jeep Cherokee with black racks on the roof and gold New York license plates.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous.
