Duo Charged In Multiple Car Break-Ins: Police
Police say they stole cash and credit cards from cars, then used them at nearby stores.

Nassau police arrested a man and woman on Monday and charged them with breaking into cars in Rockville Centre and using credit cards they stole from inside.
According to police, a woman parked her 2017 Hyundai Tuscan behind Sportset Health and Fitness, located at 40 Maple Ave., at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 31. When she returned to her car about an hour later, she found the rear passenger window was smashed, and a wallet, cash, credit cards and pocket book were stolen.
A short time later, police say a couple entered CVS, located at 668 Sunrise Highway in Baldwin, and used one of the woman's credit cards.

Police say that around the same time, a 2017 Acura parked at 100 Hempstead Ave. had the front passenger window shattered, and a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox parked on Ohio Street had the front passenger window shattered and a handbag, watch and gift certificates stolen from inside. POlice say a four-door Nissan sedan, blue-gray in color, was seen near each location.
On Monday, police arrested Dawn Goldstein, 29, of Meacham Avenue, Elmont, and Richard Alvarez, 37, of North Cornoa Avenue, Valley Stream, in connection with the break-ins.

Both are charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, two counts each of third- and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Alvarez was also charged with an additional count of third-degree mischief.
Goldstein was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 3. Alvarez is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 6.
