First Responders Deliver Baby As LI Mom Couldn't Get To Hospital

Firefighters, police officers and medics assisted the woman in the back seat of her car.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — It was a Halloween treat for a pregnant woman who went into labor early.

The expectant mother and her husband were unable to make it to the hospital in time for delivery on Sunday morning.

Members of the Rockville Centre Fire Department and the Police Department were called to assist the woman.

Former Chief Louis Franco and Officer Eric Hores were first to help, the village said in a statement.

Others arrived shortly after, including chiefs James Avondet and Tony Rugolo, Fire medic Mike Wooram and the Rockville Centre Fire Department ambulance 4462 and its crew.

"Every professional personnel worked together to safely deliver Nathaniel Parker in the backseat of mom and dad's car," the statement said.

The newborn and his parents were transported to North Shore University Hospital. Mom and son are doing well.
