Former County Health Commissioner Gets VP Role With Hospital Network

Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein has been named Catholic Health's chief public and community health officer.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Catholic Health has named Lawrence Eisenstein as its vice president and chief public and community health officer.

Eisenstein spent more than a decade as the Nassau County Health Commissioner.

"Dr. Eisenstein’s intimate knowledge of the health programs that relate to state, county and local government on Long Island will greatly benefit our system," said Catholic Health Vice President & Chief Transformation Officer Joseph Lamantia. "We are confident he will expand and strengthen Catholic Health’s health equity program, assisting us in making a critical difference in the health trajectory of the underserved."

In the newly created position, Eisenstein will lead Catholic Health’s efforts to address health care disparities within underserved communities in our region.

Eisenstein completed his medical degree at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. He did his fellowship in infectious diseases at Winthrop-University Hospital and got a Master’s degree in public health from New York Medical College in Valhalla.

The Catholic Health network includes six acute care hospitals and three nursing homes.
