Friends Return For Turkey Bowl, A Thanksgiving Football Mainstay
The annual game grew out of 1984 Oceanside High School classmates reuniting on the gridiron.

OCEANSIDE, NY — A Thanksgiving tradition resumes with the Oceanside High School Class of ’84 Turkey Bowl.
Joe Cuomo, a member of the 1984 high school class, is one of the co-coordinators of the holiday celebration in the community.
But today the football game has expanded to include the graduates, sons, nephews and friends.

One former classmate is flying from California for the "big game." Another person is coming to Long Island by way of Boston, Joe's sister Frances said in an email.
With two dozen or so expected to participate, the game is set for Sat., Nov. 27 at noon. It takes place at the former Oceanside Junior High School (Merle Avenue), now School #6.

After the game, another tradition is on the agenda.
The teammates, friends and relatives will assemble at East Gastro Pub on Long Beach Road in Oceanside, owned by a fellow classmate.
