Garbage Truck Worker Dies From Injuries In Friday Crash: Police

The incident, involving a collision with semi-tractor-trailer, happened Friday in Cedarhurst.

CEDARHURST, NY — The Town of Hempstead garbage truck worker who was struck by a semi tractor-trailer has died, police said.

The victim, identified as Henry Owens of Queens, who had been in critical condition since the Friday morning crash in Cedarhurst, was pronounced dead Sunday, detectives said.

They are still investigating the incident where Owens was backing into a location at Rockaway Turnpike and Burnside Avenue as the tractor trailer collided with his truck, police said.

Owens was ejected, but the driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene.
