Gas Main Repaired On Grand Avenue

UPDATE, 4 p.m.: National Grid says its crews have repaired the damaged line on Grand Avenue. The utility is just waiting for the building owner to ask them to turn the gas back on.

ORIGINAL STORY: A gas main break in Baldwin has shut down part of Grand Avenue in both directions, officials say.

The break occurred around noon on Grand Avenue between Seaman Avenue and St. Lukes place. The road is currently closed while National Grid works to stop the leak.

According to National Grid, a third-party contractor was doing work in front of 1908 Grand Ave. when they hit the service line connecting the building to the main line in the street. No one was hurt.
