Gas Prices Surge Across LI, Jumping 20 Cents Since Last Week: AAA

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — If you think gas prices are higher in recent weeks, it's not your imagination.
The average price on Long Island has been surging, according to AAA Northeast.
A month ago, it was $4.18 per gallon. But the trend has been going in the wrong direction. Last week, it jumped to $4.35 per gallon across the island.

By May 9, the price for regular gasoline soared to $4.55, AAA said.
It makes finding the cheapest gas stations even more imperative. Gasbuddy.com has a list of the lowest prices to pump gas in Rockville Centre.

- $4.39 is the price you'll pay per gallon at the 76 on 232 N. Long Beach Rd.
- It's also $4.39, as of May 10, at the Exxon on 516 Merrick Rd.
There are several at $4.49, also below the Long Island average.

- Shell on 360 Sunrise Highway
- Speedway on 580 Sunrise Highway
- Mobil on 345 Sunrise Highway
- Conoco on 171 Sunrise Highway
The national average for gas is $4.37 and the state average is $4.57, according to AAA.
