As Gas Tops $5 On Long Island, Drivers Search For Lower Prices

LONG ISLAND, NY — While gas prices have topped $5 per gallon for an all-time level nationally, it's as high across New York. The state average is $5.04, three cents over the country's record price.

Drilling down to Long Island, it is also $5.04 at the pump, according to AAA.

But, there are some locations that have slightly more "reasonable" prices.

The lowest price you'll find for regular gasoline is $4.50 at the 76 on 440 Hawkins Ave. in Ronkonkoma, GasBuddy.com found.

Farther east, it's $4.59 per gallon at Montauk Native Gasoline at 182 C. Poospatuck Lane in Mastic.

It's also $4.59 at the Mobil on 1201 Sunrise Highway in Copiague and the Phillips 66 on 86 East Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst.

Another Lindenhurst gas station: Ultra Fuel at 45 Sunrise Highway is $4.59 per gallon. The Conoco in Copiague (1310 Sunrise Highway) is charging $4.59 as well.

It will set you back $4.65 per gallon at Ultra at 360 N. Central Avenue in Valley Stream, according to GasBuddy.com.
