Griffin Concedes Assembly Race To Curran; Loses By 138 Votes
Following a hand recount, Griffin, a two-time Assembly member, is defeated by a previous four-termer from the district.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — After a mandatory hand recount, Assemblywoman Judy Griffin (D-Rockville Centre) has conceded her race for the 21st District to Brian Curran, and with it he gets a return to Albany.
The two-time Assemblywoman fell short by just 138 votes or .0027 percent.
"News that will undoubtedly please just as many as it disappoints," Griffin said in a statement.

As the first woman to win that seat and first Democrat elected since 1974, Griffin said "while personally frustrated by this outcome, I am most concerned by the fact that our district will no longer benefit from my strong advocacy and moderate voice in the Assembly Majority."
Curran, the former mayor of Lynbrook, was elected to the 21st Assembly District in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
