Letter To The Editor: Hackett And McNulty For RVC Board Of Ed

On May 16, each registered voter in Rockville Centre will have the chance to cast two votes for trustees of the Board of Education. We'll be voting for Tara Hackett and Susan McNulty, and we urge you to do the same.

Tara Hackett has enormous strength, intellect, empathy, resourcefulness and tenacity. She has managed to be a strong leader in our community while remaining universally respected by everyone lucky enough to know or work with her. Tara gives generously of her time at Hewitt School and has also worked on initiatives that benefit students across every school in our district. Tara has been a regular attendee at Board of Education meetings for years. She has a deep knowledge base of district-wide issues which long predates her candidacy.

Susan McNulty's years of experience in school administration provide her a robust background for a position on the Board of Ed. She has negotiated with bargaining units and collaborated with teams of educators as principal at a NYC public school and at Nassau BOCES. Susan understands the complexities of Rockville Centre's inclusion model and can help move us in the right direction. She offers a wealth of experience, resources and knowledge to our board. Susan will not require on-the-job training as a Trustee; she’ll begin the job well-prepared on day one.

Tara and Susan are smart, hardworking community members excited to take on one of the most important volunteer roles in our village. Through their professional and volunteer experience, they have shown us their dedication and commitment to student success. We encourage you to elect Tara and Susan on May 16.
