Hempstead House Fire Displaces 4 Adults, Fire Marshal Says

The fire marshal's office says the fire alarm was raised at 8:57 p.m. Sunday night.

HEMPSTEAD, NY. — A Hempstead house fire displaced four people from their homes Sunday night after breaking out just before 9 p.m., authorities said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said the fire broke out at 8:57 p.m. in a two-story Cape Cod-style house on Weir Street, with the Hempstead Fire Department responding and getting assistance from Baldwin, Elmont, Freeport, Garden City, Rockville Centre, Roosevelt, South Hempstead, Uniondale and West Hempstead departments. In total, the fire marshal said there were about 80 firefighters on the scene.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation by the NCFM and the NCPD arson bomb squad, and said no injuries were reported.
