Lakeview Man Faces Robbery Charge After 7-11 Stickup: Police
Police say the man demanded money while displaying a gun in the store.
HEMPSTEAD, NY. — A 57-year-old Lakeview man is facing a robbery charge after walking into a Fulton Avenue 7-11 and demanding money while displaying a gun, police said.
Nassau County police said 57-year-old Dion Mitchell entered the 7-11 at about 5 a.m. Tuesday, approaching a 20-year-old man who worked in the store and demanded the money with the handgun on display. The 20-year-old feared for his life and gave Mitchell about $800 before Mitchell left the store on foot, police said.
Police said third squad detectives worked with the Hempstead Investigations Unit to locate Mitchell and arrest him without incident. Mitchell now faces a first-degree robbery charge and a second-degree menacing charge, police said. His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, police said.
