High School Graduate From RVC Wins $2,000 Scholarship

OCEANSIDE, NY — A graduate of Oceanside High School was awarded $2,000 scholarship from Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union.

Meral Eviner, 17, of Rockville Centre, was one of four local graduates to receive the Patrick McNeill Memorial Scholarship.

Eviner plans to attend Vanderbilt University in the fall.

"Reconnecting with my faith had emboldened me to live to the ideals of my religion, establish a clothing business, and become an advocate for others," Eviner said in a statement. "Pursuing the remainder of my educational career in law and business aligns with my drive to become a voice for the voiceless and make a change on a much larger scale."

Criteria for the award were judged on academic achievement and their community involvement, aligning with the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” and Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union's Catholic values.
