Homeless Man Arrested For String Of Larcenies: Police

Police say his crimes date back to last December, and sometimes targeted the same businesses multiple times.

Nassau County police arrested a homeless man on Tuesday in connection with a string of larcenies going back to last December.

According to police, Andre Christmas, 49, entered the Stop and Shop at 465 Atlantic Ave. in Oceanside at 2:35 p.m. and left the store without paying for his merchandise. Police say he got into a taxi and fled the scene without the driver knowing the merchandise was stolen.

Police found the cap at the intersection of Evergreen Avenue and Henry street and pulled it over. They saw Christmas in the back seat with the merchandise and placed him under arrest without incident.
