Lakeview Man Charged After Police Find Him With Stolen Rifle

Nassau County police initially were called to the man's home early Saturday for a possible burglary, authorities said.

LAKEVIEW, NY — A Lakeview man is facing multiple charges after officers responding to a burglary call found him in possession of a stolen rifle, authorities said.

Nassau County police arrested Kevin Mackey, 53, after officers were called to his home on Thrush Avenue around 12:25 a.m. Saturday. Police were initially called to the address for a report of a possible burglary in progress but instead found Mackey in the backyard holding a rifle.

Police ordered Mackey to the ground before taking him into custody, according to authorities.

After investigating, police determined there was no burglary at the home.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Mackey was charged on multiple counts including criminal possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
